This Privacy Policy explains how VMH Digital ("we", "us", "our") — the developer and publisher of the PhoneVault Android application (the "App") — handles information in connection with the App and this website (vmhdigital.com/phonevault).
PhoneVault is a dialer: it replaces your phone's built-in phone app and adds notes, follow-up tasks, a private contact directory, caller preview, blocking and call analytics. Because everything it does happens on your device, we never receive your data — and this policy can therefore be unusually short and unusually direct. By installing or using PhoneVault you agree to this policy; if you do not agree, please do not use the App.
We do not collect, receive, transmit, sell or share any personal data. The shipping build of PhoneVault contains no network upload path: there is no account system, no cloud sync, no server operated by us, no advertising SDK, no analytics SDK, and no crash-reporting SDK that communicates with external servers.
Everything you create in the App — notes, tasks, directory contacts, categories, decline-message templates, settings — is stored in the App's private storage area on your phone and stays there.
PhoneVault needs access to certain information on your phone to do its job. Accessed is not collected: each item below is read and processed on your device only, and is never transmitted to us or anyone else.
| Access | Why PhoneVault needs it |
|---|---|
| Call log | To show your call history with notes, follow-ups and categories attached, and to compute your call analytics (totals, missed-call rate, peak hours) on the device. Android grants call-log access to the default phone app. |
| Contacts | To show caller names in your history, to let you dial your contacts, and to tell you when an incoming call is from someone not in your contacts. PhoneVault reads your address book; it does not modify it, and directory contacts you create in PhoneVault are never written to it. |
| Phone / default dialer role | To place and receive calls, draw the in-call screen, reject blocked numbers before the phone rings, and offer decline-with-message. See section 4. |
| Camera | Only when you use the number scanner: the camera image is processed on the device to read a phone number from a card, invoice or sign. No image is stored or transmitted. |
| Calendar (optional) | Only if you choose to add a follow-up to your calendar: PhoneVault creates that one event in the calendar you pick. It does not read your existing events for any other purpose. |
| SMS | Only when you decline a call with a message: the text you chose is sent by SMS, or handed to WhatsApp if you prefer. PhoneVault does not read your message history. |
| Notifications | To alert you when a dated follow-up falls due. Reminders are scheduled locally on your device — nothing is pushed from a server. |
You can deny or revoke any permission in Android Settings; the corresponding feature will simply be unavailable.
Android permits only the default phone app to read the call log, draw an in-call screen, and reject calls before the phone rings. That is a platform rule designed to protect you — and it is the only reason PhoneVault requests the role. PhoneVault fulfils the entire role: dialing, in-call screen, call history and blocking.
Holding the role grants no network capability, changes nothing about where data is stored, and can be handed back at any time in Android Settings → Apps → Default apps → Phone app. Your call history is Android's own record and remains intact whichever dialer holds the role.
Your blocked-number list and your decline-message templates are stored on your device like everything else. Blocking happens locally — no lookup service, no shared spam database, no third party is consulted. A decline message goes only to the caller you decline, through your SMS service or WhatsApp.
The App itself integrates no third-party analytics, advertising or data-collection service. Three ordinary boundaries are worth stating plainly:
Keeping your data off the internet removes an entire class of risk: there is no server of ours to breach and no transmission to intercept. On the device, your data is protected by Android's app-sandbox isolation and by your own screen lock. We recommend a screen lock or biometric on any phone that holds a call history worth protecting — that advice applies to every dialer, including this one. No method of storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of your own device.
PhoneVault is a productivity tool for people who manage work and life by phone, and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone — child or adult — because the App collects no personal information at all.
Because your data never leaves your phone, you already hold every right directly: you can access, correct, export (as JSON) and permanently delete everything the App stores, without asking us. We hold no profile of you to disclose, correct or erase.
The only personal information we ever hold is a support email you voluntarily send to [email protected]. To the extent laws such as the EU/UK GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act apply to that correspondence, you may request a copy, correction or deletion of it at any time, and you may complain to your local data protection authority. We do not sell or share personal information. We aim to answer every privacy enquiry within 30 days.
We transfer no data internationally, because we transfer no data at all. Your information stays on your phone, in your country, under your control.
If a future version of PhoneVault ever adds a feature that involves the network — for example an optional backup — this policy will be updated before that version ships, the change will be described in the App's release notes, and the "Last Updated" date above will change. The current policy is always at this address.
